The free Interlibrary loan (ILL) program offers library patrons the opportunity to request and receive items not owned by the Albert F. Totman Library. Through ILL, library patrons have access to the circulating collections of Maine Public Libraries, Universities and library systems throughout the United States.
ILL services are available to anyone holding a valid Albert F. Totman Library card in good standing with no overdue items, fees for damaged items, etc.
Requests for items can be placed at the library by completing a required request form or via email librarian@totman.lib.me.us. A total of five (5) item per Patron may be outstanding at one time. Including: requested, checked out, in transit, etc. Items not available for request include:
- Items currently owned by the Albert F. Totman Library
- Textbooks
- Entire issues of periodicals
- Rare books
- eBooks or eDocuments/articles
- New books published within the last 6 months
Items requested will be delivered to the Albert F. Totman Library. You will be notified when your requested items are available for pickup.
Any items borrowed via interlibrary loan and not returned by the due date, will be considered late and as such will be subject to fees/fines per the late policy of the lending library. In addition, if an item is returned one week or more after the due date, the item will be considered lost and you will be responsible for the replacement cost of the late item. The replacement cost will be determined by the owning library. All interlibrary loans cannot be re-loaned by you to any other individual.
Renewal of ILL material (s) is not allowed. If you are unable to return the item on time due to extreme circumstances, please contact the library as soon as possible.
If you have any questions regarding your interlibrary loans or requests, please contact the library during regular business hours 389-2309.
